The natural gas industry in Idaho is regulated under a combination of federal, state, and local laws. Idaho has extensive regulations defining permitting, drilling, operations, and groundwater protection through Idaho Department of Lands (IDL), Idaho Department of Water Resources (IDWR), Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (IDEQ), and the Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (OGCC).
Well stimulations or fracs are specifically addressed by a new set of regulations with requirements for pressure tests prior to fracturing, full disclosure of ingredients used, pressure monitoring throughout the frac process, and reporting of all results. Bridge and IDL/IDWR are also collaborating on a groundwater testing/monitoring process to ensure there is no aquifer contamination from any drilling or frac operations.
