Dr. Watkins holds a BSc in Mining and a PhD in Geophysics from the University of Leeds, an MSc in Management from the Stanford Business School in California and a Hon D.Eng from Heriot Watt University in Scotland. His previous experience comprises 5 years with Shell International and 30 years with Conoco Inc working in the USA, Europe and Asia. He was Chairman and Managing Director of Conoco UK Ltd. from 1993 through 2002. Dr Watkins is vice chairman of the Board of Governors of Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland, and has previously served as a non-executive director of Abbot Group plc, Paladin Resources plc, ITI Scotland Ltd, Production Services Network Ltd, the Maersk Company Ltd and the UK Defence Procurement Agency.
